July 11, Fineko/abc.az. Producer inflation in Japan recorded its fastest acceleration in over three years in June, as escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East intensified supply-chain cost pressures.
According to ABC.AZ, citing data from the Bank of Japan (BOJ), the Producer Price Index (PPI) surged by 7.1% on a year-on-year basis. The reading significantly beat market expectations of 6.8%, marking the strongest annual increase documented since March 2023.
The central bank's analytics reveal that rising input costs are being passed onto consumer prices much faster than historically observed. The BOJ cautioned that this underlying momentum could drive aggregate inflation higher later in the year, cementing expectations for tighter monetary policy configurations moving forward.
