September 2, Fineko/abc.az. The Chinese government has launched an energy platform in the capital as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The coordination of this initiative will be handled by China’s National Energy Administration (NEA).

According to ABC.AZ, citing a statement from the agency, the platform will serve as a tool to strengthen ties between China and SCO member countries, including expanding partnerships in alternative energy sources and improving regional oversight of energy resource use. It will provide a safe and environmentally friendly venue open to all organization participants, reports TASS.

The NEA emphasizes that this measure reflects China’s genuine efforts to achieve more effective results in SCO energy cooperation and is considered a key element of engagement within the organization’s framework.

Official data shows that since July 2024, when China assumed the SCO rotating chairmanship, Chinese companies have initiated, begun construction on, or put into operation more than 160 new projects in power generation and renewable energy, and have implemented over 60 programs in the oil, gas, and related sectors. The total investment in such projects has exceeded 380 billion yuan (about $53.5 billion), contributing to the region’s socio-economic progress.
