April 16, Fineko/abc.az. The U.S. administration may impose duties of 245% on imports from China amid an escalating trade standoff between the countries.
ABC.AZ reports, referring to the White House press service.
With the introduction of 10% duties against all countries in early April and individual increased tariffs for states "with which the U.S. has the largest trade deficit»," Trump wanted to "level the playing field and ensure America's national security". Subsequently, more than 75 countries agreed to resolve the situation and "conclude new trade deals".
"Against the background of those discussions, the introduction of individual tariffs has been suspended [for all countries], with the exception of China, which has retaliated, and therefore China now faces duties of up to 245% on imports in the U.S.," the statement says.
The White House did not provide details on the timing and configuration of the tightening measures.
