128 IRS offices close in U.S.

15:43 - 27.02.2025

February 27, Fineko/abc.az. At least 128 offices of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service out of 360 that assist taxpayers in completing tax returns will be closed, ABC.AZ reports, referring to The Washington Post.

Centers where U.S. citizens can receive assistance in completing fairly complex tax returns will be closed.

According to the letter, all lease agreements by the tax service of those buildings where the offices were being closed will be terminated as soon as possible, if the contracts allow it.

The decision will mainly affect low-income citizens, since large businessmen have declarations filled out by specially hired employees, but workers need to figure out the declaration themselves. Moreover, as the precedent of Trump's prosecution in New York has shown, any inaccuracy in the declaration can become a reason for prosecution, although this was not accepted before Trump's case.
