Bitcoin Nears $80,000 Threshold Amid Crypto Market Surge

09:08 - 25.08.2026

August 25, Fineko/abc.az. Bitcoin continued its upward trajectory on Tuesday, approaching the $80,000 level driven by renewed inflows into spot ETFs and recovering risk appetite.

The cryptocurrency rose 3.1% to reach $79,739. Gaining over 20% in just three days last week, Bitcoin recorded its strongest three-day rally since 2023. During this surge, short positions worth over $4 billion were liquidated.

Key Drivers Behind the Rally:

  • US Treasury Announcement: The decision to double purchases of long-term government bonds temporarily pushed yields down, fueling demand for riskier assets.

  • Institutional Investor Interest: US spot Bitcoin ETFs registered a net inflow of $1.92 billion last week, marking the highest weekly intake since Bitcoin reached its previous cycle peak in October.

However, analysts remain cautious about the sustainability of the price increase. Given that Bitcoin has been in a broader downward trend since October, experts note that the current momentum could prove short-lived, mirroring the market behavior seen in early 2023.
