March 1, Fineko/abc.az. The Baku population increased by 16,770 people or 0.7% in 2017.

The Baku Statistics Department informs that as of 1 January 2018 the capital numbered 2,262,560 people, of whom men made up 49.7% and women 50.3%.

"The population density per sq km totals 1,057 people," the BSD said in a statement.
