Gold Holds Flat at $4,281 as Fed Rate Hike Expectations Weigh On Sentiment

10:31 - 24.09.2026

September 24, Fineko/abc.az. Gold prices traded sideways as expectations of further monetary policy tightening by the US Federal Reserve offset support from lower crude oil benchmark prices.

Spot gold slipped 0.1% to $4,281.98  per ounce, while December gold futures held near $4,317.50. The market pressure follows the Fed’s recent 25-basis-point interest rate increase to a range of 3.75%–4.00%, with traders pricing in a potential second consecutive rate hike in late October.

Market analysts note that while rising interest rates elevate the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding bullion, heightened global economic volatility is keeping gold anchored near the $4,200 range. Among other precious metals, spot silver dropped 0.6% to $64.07 per ounce, platinum advanced 0.2% to $1,754.05, and palladium eased 0.1% to $1,260.70 .
