September 24, Fineko/abc.az. To date, AzerGold has carried out extensive work to expand its mineral resource base.

Zakir Ibragimov, the chairman of board at AzerGold CJSC, made the relevant statement.

"Currently, at the stage of initial exploration and evaluation works, geological studies are continuing at the expense of the State Budget, covering an area of 15,000 sq km, scheduled for completion in 2027. As a result, the mineral resource potential of our country will be mapped, including the territories liberated from occupation," the chair stressed.

Ibragimov noted that at the stage of initial exploration, AzerGold's portfolio includes 5 fields, for which economically efficient reserves are being determined. Initial resources of approximately 375,000, 289,000 and 849,000 GEO respectively have been defined at the Heydag and Bashkend copper deposits located in Nakhchivan, as well as at the Mazymchai deposit located in Balakan. The total volume of initial resources for these three fields is about 1.5 million GEO.
