September 22, Fineko/abc.az. The National Security Commission of the Iranian Parliament has approved key clauses of a strategic plan enforcing strict penalties on commercial vessels violating transit rules in the Strait of Hormuz.

Commission spokesperson Hassan Ghashghavi announced that non-compliant ships will face the seizure of 20% of their cargo or an equivalent monetary fine.

Failure to pay the imposed penalties will result in the total impoundment of the vessel. Under the newly approved articles of the "Strategic Action Plan for Ensuring Security in the Strait of Hormuz," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been officially tasked with enforcing compliance.
