ECB's Boris Vujcic Warns High Inflation Could Slow Eurozone Economic Growth

September 18, Fineko/abc.az. European Central Bank Vice President Boris Vujcic warned that economic growth in the Eurozone could slow down this autumn if elevated price pressures persist.

Speaking to Reuters, Vujcic noted that sustained inflation through the autumn months threatens to erode household incomes and dampen consumer spending, ultimately placing downward pressure on GDP growth.

With inflation currently above 3% and analysts projecting a potential rise toward 4% by year-end, debates within the ECB over further monetary policy tightening continue to intensify. Vujcic emphasized that while market pricing for rate hikes is primarily driven by surging energy costs, the ECB will base its policy decisions on a broader set of macroeconomic data rather than energy prices alone.
