September 17, Fineko/abc.az. Huawei's rotating chairman Eric Xu stated that Chinese artificial intelligence developers may not yet be advanced enough to experience the high-level safety risks and "rogue AI" scenarios reported by leading U.S. firms.
Speaking on the industry's trajectory, Xu argued that Chinese developers should continue building more powerful AI models while maintaining a balance between technological innovation and risk mitigation.
He noted that the complex existential and safety risks highlighted by American AI pioneers typically emerge at higher capabilities—a threshold Chinese models have yet to cross. Consequently, rather than halting progress out of caution, Xu emphasized that China must push forward in developing robust and competitive models.
