August 7, Fineko/abc.az. The FAO Food Price Index, which tracks monthly changes in the international prices of a basket of globally traded food commodities, averaged 131.1 points in July 2026.
The index rose 0.6% from June and stood 1.0% higher than its level a year ago. Increases in the price indices for cereals, sugar, and vegetable oils offset declines in meat and dairy products.
UN economists warn that rising agricultural commodity costs and high energy prices could re-ignite consumer food inflation in the coming period.
