Gold Surges Past $4,254: Heading for Strongest Weekly Gain Since January

10:36 - 7.08.2026

August 7, Fineko/abc.az. Gold extended its gains on Friday, set for its strongest weekly performance since January, supported by easing crude oil prices. Investors remain focused on upcoming US non-farm payrolls data for July, which could offer clues on the Federal Reserve's future interest rate path.

Spot gold rose 0,4% to $4,254.11 per ounce. Having touched a seven-week high in the previous session, the precious metal is up over 5% for the week.

Analysts note that easing inflation expectations amid growing hopes for peace in the Middle East enabled gold to break out higher after oscillating above the $4,000 level for an extended period. Among other precious metals, spot silver climbed 0.8% to $61.96, platinum gained 0.4% to $1,735.71, while palladium slipped 0.3% to $1,367.06 per ounce.
