Japan's trade deficit exceeds $6.2 bn for past half of 2026

July 22, Fineko/abc.az. Japan's trade deficit in the first 6 months of 2026 amounted to 1.01 trillion yens ($6.2 bn), informs

today Japanese business agency Kyodo News, citing government data.

According to a preliminary report by the Ministry of Finance, exports increased by 13.7% in the 1st half of the year and imports by 10.7% against Jan-Jun 2025.

According to the Ministry, Japan's trade deficit totaled 406.9 billion yens in June alone.

Trade deficit occurs when country's imports exceed its exports.
