July 20, Fineko/abc.az. Over the first 6 months of 2026, Azerbaijan imported 585,062 tons of wheat, the State Customs Committee informs.

The cost of wheat in this volume was $132.905 million.

The indicator is 17,192 tons (2.8%) less in volume  and $2,243,000 (1.7%) more in value versus Jan-Jun 2025.

Expenditures on import of wheat made up 1.6% of Azerbaijan's overall import expenses.

For Jan-Jun 2026, Azerbaijan conducted trade operations with foreign countries for $24.7 million (1.1% more than a year ago), including exports for $16.3 billion (a rise by 26.7%) and imports for $8.3 billion (a drop by 27.6%).

As a result, foreign trade surplus reached $7.979 billion (5.9-fold more than a year ago).
