Armenian fish farmers protest over loss of sales markets

July 21, Fineko/abc.az. Fish farmers of Armenia took to the streets near the government building, demanding a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister. The reason is the crisis of sales: the Russian market is closed, the European one is not yet available. Thousands of tons of products remain in warehouses, including the batches returned from the Russian border.

According to the head of the Union of Fish Farmers, Gor Grigoryan, the industry is ready to develop new markets, but needs support and time. Previously, entrepreneurs tried to enter the EU market, but they have not yet been able to obtain the necessary registration.

This June, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary, Phytosanitary and Land Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) suspended the certification of fish from Armenia, and then the restrictions were extended to all products in the sector.
