June 25, Fineko/abc.az. According to the systems of banks and Azerpocht LLC, as of the end of May, the number of payment cards in circulation increased by 309,000 cards compared with the previous month and reached 22,827,000 cards.

Compared with Jan-May 2025, this figure grew by 12%.

The number of debit cards increased by 13%, while the number of credit cards declined by 3%.

ABC.AZ informs with reference to CBA-published Statistical Bulletin - May 2026 that the increase in the number of payment cards has had positive impact on cashless payments.

Since the beginning of the year, the domestic cashless transactions has grown by 14% against Jan-May 2025. In May 2026, the domestic non-cash payments made with the use of cards amounted to 8.68 billion manats.

Of this amount, 7.62 billion manats were spent on e-commerce.

The remaining amount (1.58 billion manats) was spent through POS-terminals and 2 million manats through self-service terminals and ATMs. Since the beginning of the year, the domestic non-cash transactions with the use of payment cards made up 69.7% of all domestic card transactions.
