September 23, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan will evaluate the possibilities of setting up metalworking enterprises for deeper processing of copper raw materials extracted from local deposits, which can be imported from abroad.

According to the State Program for Development of Mining & Metallurgical Industry 2027-2030, approved by order of President Ilham Aliyev, in 2027-2028 the Ministry of Economy and AzerGold CJSC will study the technical and economic efficiency of the project, the availability of raw materials and market demand.

This step is aimed at preventing the export of copper to the country only in the form of concentrate and formation of a deep chain of processing of the finished metal.
