September 21, Fineko/abc.az. Retail diesel prices in the United States have hit a record high, surpassing $6.50 per gallon for the first time.

According to data from the American Automobile Association (AAA), diesel has gained more than 87 cents in September alone, eclipsing previous historic peaks.

The price rally is heavily driven by geopolitical tensions affecting tanker transit through the critical Strait of Hormuz and constrained global refining outputs. Market pressure is further compounded by Russia’s potential extension of its fuel export restrictions through October following recent refinery disruptions.
