September 21, Fineko/abc.az. Ireland’s Data Protection Commission (DPC) has fined Google Ireland Limited €403 million following an inquiry into the tech giant’s processing of user location data.

Launched after complaints from European consumer groups, the investigation concluded that Google breached GDPR requirements across three key features: "Web & App Activity", "Location History", and "Location Accuracy".

The watchdog found that Google failed to demonstrate transparency, fair data processing, and lawful retention practices regarding geolocation metrics. The DPC has ordered Google to bring its data handling procedures into full GDPR compliance within a six-month period.
