September 21, Fineko/abc.az. In the 1st half of 2026, foreign direct investments from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) into the Azerbaijani economy decreased by 9.6% against the 2025 same term to $158.7 million.

According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, in the first half of 2025, this figure was $175.6 million.

Against the background of a drop on investments, UAE's share in overall foreign direct investments in Azerbaijan also decreased - from 5.4% to 4.3%.

At that, companies from the UAE continue major investment projects in Azerbaijan.

After the commissioning of the Garadagh solar power plant with capacity of 230 MW, Masdar is jointly implementing new projects with SOCAR with total investment value of approx. $1 billion.

These include solar power plants with capacity of 445 MW in Bilasuvar and 315 MW in Neftchala, as well as a 240 MW wind farm in the Absheron-Garadagh zone. The Ministry of Energy reported that work on the Bilasuvar and Neftchala projects is ongoing as planned.

Another investor, UAE state oil company ADNOC, has acquired a 30% stake in the Absheron gas condensate field. Currently, the shares in the project are distributed as follows: SOCAR and TotalEnergies - 35% each, ADNOC - 30%.

Investment activity of companies from the UAE is also observed in the industrial sector. SENSEMI DMCC is building a transformer plant worth 17 million manats in industrial park Araz Valley Economic Zone in Jabrayil. The company will produce 3,000 transformers a year.
