Bitcoin falls amid expectations of a rate hike in U.S. and global tensions

May 14, Fineko/abc.az. Bitcoin declined on Thursday, remaining below key levels amid growing concern about rising interest rates in the U.S. amid increasing inflationary pressures related to the war in Iran.

ABC.AZ reports that cryptocurrency markets have taken a cautious stance ahead of a hearing in the U.S. Senate Committee on the Clarity Act, scheduled for Thursday. The latest version of the bill was published by the Senate Banking Committee on Wednesday morning.

Markets' attention was also focused on the ongoing U.S.-China summit in Beijing, where President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping held high-level talks on Thursday.

Bitcoin fell 1.4% to $79,807.3 as of 09:58.
