April 1, Fineko/abc.az. A plant for calcination and firing of anodes will be constructed in Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in the decree signed today by President Ilham Aliyev "On taking a number of measures to ensure the development of the mining and metallurgical industry (metal ores) and the metallurgical industry in Azerbaijan".

Under the decree, the construction of the plant will be carried out through the Azerbaijan Investment Holding in accordance with the prepared feasibility study, with the identification of sources of financing and jointly with the relevant government agencies.

In addition, in order to increase competitiveness of metallurgical products, measures will be taken to improve tariffs for energy and transport, if necessary, to allot additional land plots and meet the need for electricity.

It is noted that the Western Industrial Park being created in the country will expand the processing of iron ore and deepen the value chain in the metallurgical industry.

According to the decree, the modernization of ore processing enterprises in the Dashkesan and Hajabey districts, as well as commissioning of promising deposits in the liberated territories, will expand the production and export capabilities of the mining and metallurgical industries.

At the same time, the creation of the Western Industrial Park creates additional opportunities for processing iron ore and deepening the value chain in metallurgy.

Extra measures should also be taken to effectively use the existing mineral resource base, strengthen links between the stages of extraction and processing, coordinate infrastructure and logistics solutions, as well as expand public-private partnerships.
