October 24, Fineko/abc.az. JPMorgan Chase, the largest U.S. bank, plans to allow institutional clients to directly use bitcoin and ethereum as collateral for loans.
ABC.AZ reports that Bloomberg writes about this. The program is to be launched by the end of the year and will be available worldwide.
Cryptocurrencies will be stored in a third-party custody company. The new service expands the bank's existing practice - in June, JPMorgan began accepting shares of cryptocurrency ETFs as loan collateral. JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon is skeptical about cryptocurrencies - he has repeatedly called bitcoin a “tool for criminals”. At a meeting with investors in May, he stated that the bank would nevertheless provide customers with access to cryptocurrency.
