September 2, Fineko/abc.az. Prices for meat and dairy products in the Netherlands will continue to rise, and it is expected that cheese, milk, butter, as well as meat products in Dutch supermarkets will become more expensive in the coming years due to the reduction of livestock in the country. According to ABC.AZ, this was reported on August 30 by the ANP agency, citing a forecast from one of the Netherlands’ largest banks, ABN AMRO.
In the bank’s sectoral report, it is stated that government measures and buyout schemes have led to the closure of hundreds of farms, which disrupted the supply of dairy products and meat. ABN AMRO economists forecast a reduction in meat supplies by 15–18% and a decline in the dairy cow population by 8% by 2030 due to farm closures under state programs. This will result in excess capacity and the closure of several dairy plants and slaughterhouses. The bank allows for an increase in meat imports but warns of risks related to lower quality control.
