August 29, Fineko/abc.az. The United States plans to significantly raise visa application fees starting October 1. The fee for applying for a tourist visa will increase by 135% — from $185 to $435.

According to ABC.AZ, while the Congressional Budget Office expects to generate an additional $2.7 billion annually from the new fees, representatives of the tourism sector anticipate losses of up to $29 billion.

Visa fees will rise across many categories, including student and exchange visas (F, J, M) and work visas (H-1B, L-1, O-1).
