August 25, Fineko/abc.az. In the first half of this year, losses in Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines amounted to 25.5 million cubic meters, which is 7.1% more than a year earlier. According to ABC.AZ, citing State Statistics Committee data, in the same period of 2024, gas pipeline losses amounted to 23.8 million cubic meters.
In January–June this year, 20.2605 billion cubic meters of gas were transported through Azerbaijan’s main pipelines, 1.4% less year-on-year. In the first half of the year, 55.5% of gas transportation was carried out through the Baku–Tbilisi–Erzurum (BTE) pipeline, which exports gas from the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field. During this period, 11.2357 billion cubic meters of gas were transported through the pipeline, down 1.6% year-on-year. In 2024, losses in Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines amounted to 47.3 million cubic meters, 20.9% less than a year earlier. That year, 40.3483 billion cubic meters of gas were transported through Azerbaijan’s pipelines, up 2.7% year-on-year. Of this, 56.6% went through BTE, which transported 22.8519 billion cubic meters, an increase of 4.3%.
