July 13, Fineko/abc.az. Danish shipping giant Maersk has announced the resumption of its operations through the Red Sea under the WAF6 service, marking another phase in its return to the Suez Canal route.
The WAF6 service, which is fully operated by Maersk, connects the Middle East, the Mediterranean, and West Africa. The company noted that this deployment is part of a gradual restoration of transits through Suez.
Previously, the majority of maritime carriers abandoned the Asia–Europe route via the Suez Canal due to persistent attacks in the Red Sea, forcing vessels to detour around the Cape of Good Hope.
Recently, several companies have begun returning to this shipping corridor. Earlier, Maersk also reported the resumption of its service from the Middle East to the US East Coast via the Suez Canal.
