July 10, Fineko/abc.az. Indonesia has become the first in the world to start using fuel with 50% biodiesel from palm oil as part of program B50.

The initiative stipulates mandatory mixing of diesel with biofuel and was continuation of the policy to increase its share (from 5% in 2006 up to 40% earlier). Before the launch, the standard was tested on transport and power plants.

The authorities expect to reduce fuel imports, increase palm oil processing, and improve energy security. The program is expected to create diesel surplus of up to 4 million kiloliters and eventually eliminate diesel imports.
