July 23, Fineko/abc.az. By the end of October 2025, all Azerbaijani banks will switch to standard Az-QR.

ABC.AZ reports that CBA governor Taleh Kazimov made this statement at a press conference on the parameters of the interest rate corridor.

"Work is underway to integrate all banks into the new version of the instant payment system. The CBA plans that all payments of up to 40,000 manats across the country will be made through this system," Kazimov said.

The governor noted that this means lower costs and cost of operations.

"This is a major project. Another important step will be the transition of all banks to Az-QR standard by the end of October. At each point of payment acceptance, the possibility of payment via QR code will be introduced for both entrepreneurs and consumers. This will create great benefits for small and microbusiness. We are also negotiating with the State Tax Service to provide the opportunity to pay without using expensive POS-terminals, using only QR codes. Currently, one of the largest projects is the introduction of payment in public transport using bank cards and QR codes. I think these projects will be completed by the end of the year," Kazimov added.
