Azerbaijan to ban incandescent light bulbs from 2026

17:13 - 3.03.2025

March 3, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaija has published the reason for the ban on the use of incandescent lamps, which will be imposed in the country starting from next year.

ABC.AZ reports that Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov said this at a public discussion on the theme "Energy Efficiency: Results & Expectations" held today at the Milli Majlis Committee on Natural Resources, Energy & Ecology.

He noted that over the entire life of 1 LED lamp, more than 10 incandescent lamps burn out: "The consumer does not see this, he makes a short-term calculation. Therefore, there is a need for administrative intervention. 1 LED lamp costs 6 manats, 1 incandescent lamp costs 60 gapiks. But the citizen does not make long-term calculations. That's why we decided to step in. The result of this intervention will be savings of 30 million cu m of gas in 1 year, which is equivalent to gas supply to Nakhchivan for 2 months."
