50 hotels closed in Antalya, while hotels with violations in Istanbul will be closed by end of week

January 31, Fineko/abc.az. Antalya authorities have sealed 50 hotels as part of inspections conducted across Turkey following the tragedy at the Kartalkaya ski resort.

ABC.AZ reports that hotels in the Kaleici district, popular with foreign tourists, are closed due to violations, including lack of operating licenses, Muratpasha municipality’s head Umit Uysal told NTV.

Inspections of hotels in Turkey are carried out on the basis of a circular from the Ministry of Tourism. As a result of the fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel, which occurred on January 21, 78 people were killed, most of them children, and more than 50 were injured. There were 238 guests in the hotel at the time of the fire. As part of the investigation into the fire, 28 people were detained, 19 of them were arrested, including the hotel owner, manager, and officials of the Bolu City Hall, which administers the resort. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that all the perpetrators of the tragedy will be brought to justice.
