July 27, Fineko/abc.az. For the first time, a state program on tourism has been developed in Azerbaijan.

The document envisages introduction of subsidy mechanisms to increase transport accessibility, as well as development of tourism infrastructure. As part of the new tourism program, a system of standardization, a classification of hotels by stars, an association of hotels, and certification mechanisms for travel guides will be established.

According to tourism expert Rahman Guliyev, the State Tourism Program 2026-2030 is already at the approval stage. The expert revealed which areas of tourism this program will cover.

As part of the Program, one of the main priorities is to promote the expansion of international air travel and introduce a visa-free regime. At the same time, one of the important areas of the program is to increase the transport accessibility of major tourist destinations in the regions.

With the new standardization, it is planned to increase the number of tourists in Azerbaijan up to 5-6 million in the coming years.
