December 13, Fineko/abc.az. Prices for products imported in Azerbaijan from abroad this year are significantly higher than a year earlier.
ABC.AZ informs that according to the State Statistics Committee, prices for imported products for Jan-Oct 2024 increased by 17.8% against the previous year.
For example, in the previous month – until September - the average was 17.5%, and at the end of the 1st half of this year - 15.6%.
The Central Bank of Azerbaijan pays special attention to import inflation. Thus, the neutralizing effect of keeping the manat at a stable exchange rate on price growth has been repeatedly emphasized.
Azerbaijan has a significant share of imported products, prices are always considered as a trigger factor. A high price index increases the cost of domestic goods and can lead to inflation. This is especially noticeable in situations where food and basic consumer goods depend on imports.
