Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI Consider Forming AI Oversight Body

21:41 - 14.09.2026

September 14, Fineko/abc.az. Leading AI firms Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI are in talks to form an industry-led safety and standards body amid growing calls in the U.S. to monitor the pace of artificial intelligence development.

The proposed entity aims to establish standardized testing protocols, independent evaluations, and safety guidelines for frontier AI models prior to deployment.

The initiative gains momentum following a public warning by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, who advocated for pacing technology progress to prevent misalignment risks and suggested tighter chip export controls regarding China. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Elon Musk, and Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis have publicly backed the call for enhanced independent oversight and industry standards.
