August 1, Fineko/abc.az. Global central banks increased their gold purchases to a record 289 tonnes in the second quarter of this year, according to the World Gold Council (WGC).
Kazakhstan acquired 15 tonnes of gold during the period, securing a spot among the top five most active buyers worldwide.

Uzbekistan: +16 tonnes
Kazakhstan: +15 tonnes
Czech Republic & Jordan: +6 tonnes each
Conversely, the largest sellers included Russia (-22 tonnes) and Turkey (-4 tonnes).
WGC survey data reveals that 45% of reserve managers expect gold holdings to increase over the next 12 months, driven primarily by diversification goals and hedging against geopolitical and financial risks.
