August 1, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) has published its Financial Accounts Report for the first quarter of 2026. According to sector balance sheets, total financial assets of domestic sectors stood at TRY 232 trillion (~$5.2 trillion), while total liabilities reached TRY 248 trillion (~$5.6 trillion).
The CBRT noted that the ratio of Turkey's net financial position deficit to GDP increased by 0.7 percentage points quarter-over-quarter to 23.2%.
Key highlights across sectors:
Overall Indebtedness: Total debt in loans and debt securities as a percentage of GDP slightly increased to 94%, remaining relatively low compared to international benchmarks.
Households: Currency and deposits accounted for nearly 54% of financial assets, while liabilities were almost entirely composed of loans.
Non-Financial Corporations: Shares and equity remained the primary drivers, accounting for 51% of financial assets and 49% of liabilities.
