August 1, Fineko/abc.az. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that unresolved trade friction could severely undermine the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), speaking after a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Pashinyan highlighted that ongoing trade barriers affect the entire bloc rather than Armenia alone: "In reality, it turns out that the EAEU is paralyzed and not functioning. If these restrictions are not lifted, it will mark the beginning of the end for the EAEU."
Since late May, Russia’s agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor has banned imports of various Armenian goods, citing phytosanitary compliance issues. The Central Bank of Armenia estimates that the trade disruptions could reduce the nation's GDP by up to 2%.
