Gazprom: Gas shortage in Europe's underground gas storages creates risks for supplies

12:32 - 3.08.2026

August 3, Fineko/abc.az. Russia’s Gazprom warned that insufficient reserves in Europe's underground gas storage (UGS) facilities poses severe winter supply risks to consumers during the winter period.

According to Gazprom, as of July 31, the lag in gas reserves in European UGSs was 17.3% (12 bcm) against the same date of 2025. The storage capacity in Germany, the Netherlands, and France remains below the European average.

Gazprom's gas exports to Europe have significantly decreased because of the imposed sanctions.
