Eurozone economy shows fastest growth in more than a year

July 30, Fineko/abc.az. Eurozone economy grew 0.4% in the 2nd quarter of 2026, exceeding the consensus forecast of analysts (0.2%), despite economic pressure caused by the war with Iran.

This is the highest GDP growth rate of the region in more than 12 months.

Dynamics by key countries:

• Germany: Grew by 0.2% on the back of large-scale public investments in infrastructure and defence.

• France: GDP increased by 0.2% on the back of a rebound in consumer spending after a 0.1% fall in the first quarter.

• Spain and Portugal: Showed strong growth of 0.7% and 0.8%, respectively.

• Ireland: Recorded a strong rebound of 3.9% after a decline at the start of the year.

• Italy and the Netherlands: The economies grew by 0.2% and 0.4%, respectively.

Despite rising oil prices and inflation risks, the European economy remains resilient to geopolitical shocks in the Middle East.
