July 28, Fineko/abc.az. According to a new report by Fitch Ratings, macroeconomic conditions in advanced European economies will remain under pressure due to spillover effects from the US-Iran conflict, even if the Strait of Hormuz reopens in the near term.
The rating agency highlighted that the negative balance of outlooks, particularly for non-investment grade issuers, poses persistent risks to credit rating trends in the region.
The report notes that baseline macroeconomic assumptions for the 2026–2027 period were revised downward in the first half of 2026, primarily due to the severe energy price shock experienced in the second quarter of 2026. Fitch expects inflation across most advanced European economies to remain higher and economic growth to be weaker than anticipated at the end of 2025.
Fitch's baseline scenario assumes a gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in the third quarter of 2026, though ongoing hostilities maintain the risk of more prolonged supply disruptions.
