July 31, Fineko/abc.az. Annual inflation in the Eurozone accelerated up to 2.9% in July, compared to 2.8% in June. The main factor in the rise in prices was growth in oil prices due to the breakdown of the U.S.-Iran truce.

According to EU statistical agency Eurostat, dynamics of prices coincided with analysts' forecasts, and the largest growth was recorded in France and Spain. Energy prices in the region have increased by 10%, and there has been acceleration in core inflation and cost of services.

Acceleration in inflation has increased expectations that the European Central Bank (ECB) will continue to tighten monetary policy and raise interest rates at its September meeting.
