July 30, Fineko/abc.az. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to carry out 2D seismic exploration in cooperation with Canada's Gran Tierra Energy to refine the geological structure of the Quba-Caspian oil and gas region.

The work will be conducted under the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for exploration, development, and production in the onshore prospective area of the region.

At the initial preparation stage, a meeting was held at the Quba District Executive Authority, where participants reviewed the next steps for project implementation.

SOCAR and Gran Tierra Energy signed the agreement in February of this year. Under its terms, Gran Tierra Energy Inc. will act as the project operator with a 65% participation share. The exploration program includes gravity data collection, 3D seismic surveys, and drilling of exploration wells aimed at identifying the hydrocarbon potential of the contract area.
