June 18, Fineko/abc.az. The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has officially announced the lifting of the naval blockade imposed against the Islamic Republic of Iran, following the enactment of the bilateral "Islamabad Accord."

According to ABC.AZ, inside an official statement released on its social media handles, CENTCOM confirmed that US military forces, acting in accordance with direct presidential directives, successfully terminated the enforcement of the maritime blockade on all commercial and shipping traffic entering or exiting Iranian ports and coastal areas.

Operational Metrics of the Maritime Directive:

  • Termination of the Sea Blockade: The US military command stated: "Today, acting on instructions from the President, US forces lifted the blockade applied to all maritime traffic entering and departing Iranian ports and coastal zones." The move is expected to immediately de-escalate commercial freight insurance rates in the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding shipping lanes.

  • Sustained Military Oversight: Despite the immediate removal of the containment lines, the Pentagon will maintain an active operational presence in the region for the foreseeable future. CENTCOM underscored that US naval assets and tactical units will continue to deploy across regional waters to verify and guarantee that Iran fully complies with the core provisions outlined in the 14-point memorandum.
