May 20, Fineko/abc.az. In Azerbaijan, the legalization of informal employment has made it possible to expand the social protection system and create an additional source of financing for solving housing problems.

ABC.AZ reports that Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said this, when delivering speech at the dialogue session "Transformation of informal settlements and slums: Providing housing for peace", held within the WUF13.

He added that on the one hand, the governments are striving to reduce the shadow economy associated with informal settlements, and on the other, to create financial resources to solve this problem.

Jabbarov noted that informal employment was legalized in Azerbaijan as part of a targeted reform that began in 2019 and lasted until 2025.
