May 19, Fineko/abc.az. A "digital twin" of the city has been created in Baku based on nearly 10 billion data points.
ABC.AZ informs that Minister of Digital Development & Transport Rashad Nabiyev made the relevant statement at the event "Cities at the Center of Connectivity: Urban Reconstruction & Regional Cooperation", held within the WUF13 in Baku.
According to the minister, data from mobile operators, utilities, traffic flows, as well as the results of public surveys were used to create the model.
Nabiyev noted that the system allows for more efficient planning of urban infrastructure development, including determining optimal locations for bus lanes, traffic lights and bike paths.
The minister added that the first results of the measures are already being observed.
"The share of trips by private cars and taxis in the city dropped from 50% to 40%. By 2030, this figure is to be reduced to 30%. At the same time, the death rate as a result of road accidents fell from 9 to 7 cases per 100,000 people, and by 2030 it is to be reduced to 4," he said.
