In accordance with the relevant paragraphs of the State Program of Socio-Economic Development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2023-2027, the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan has prepared preliminary drafts of the concept and action plan Green Energy Zone for Nakhchivan and sent them to the relevant organizations for comments and suggestions, ABC.AZ informs, quoting Javid Abdullayev, Director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources.

According to Abdullayev, feedback has already been received from all institutions: "Work is currently underway to summarize them and include them in the final version of the document."

Stressing that Nakhchivan has a very large potential for solar energy, Abdullayev noted that the limitation here is only at the level of network capabilities: "The Nakhchivan government has outlined territories for renewable energy sources and land management processes are underway. A 688-hectare plot of land has been designated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan as the territory of renewable energy sources in Nakhchivan, and negotiations on the construction of two 25 megawatt plants have entered the final stage. We plan that the contract base will be signed by the end of the year, and intensive work on the construction of these two stations will begin from the beginning of next year."
