October 23, Fineko/abc.az. Turkey considers supporting the development of Islamic finance in Azerbaijan to be its strategic goal.

ABC.AZ informs that Tarik Akin, the official representative of the Office of Investments & Finance under the President of Turkey, made the relevant statement at the Islamic Financial Forum (IFF) held in Baku.

According to Akin, the Islamic financial system based on transparency, long-termism and ethical values has become a rapidly developing area in the Turkish financial sector, which is given great importance: «We consider it a strategic goal to support the development of this area not only in Turkey, but throughout the region, especially in Azerbaijan."

He stressed that the basic principles of Islamic finance – risk sharing, fair income distribution and commitment to the real economy – support sustainable development.

"These values serve to create sustainable economic growth and an inflation-resistant economy. Azerbaijan's energy potential, strategic position and development opportunities further strengthen the steps being taken towards turning the country into a global financial center," Akin noted.
