October 20, Fineko/abc.az. The International Monetary Fund requires Ukraine to devalue the hryvnia.

ABC.AZ informs, referring to Bloomberg, that the IMF is putting pressure on the National Bank of Ukraine to devalue the hryvnia.

This proposal risks causing tension in Kiev on the eve of crucial negotiations on a new package of loans.

The IMF notes the advantages of devaluing the hryvnia at a controlled pace as a step that can help strengthen Ukraine's strained finances by increasing budget revenues.

But officials at the National Bank of Ukraine are resisting such a move, citing risks to inflation and public sentiment, the sources said on condition of anonymity because the talks are taking place behind closed doors.
