October 1, Fineko/abc.az. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) wants to become a producer of "clean energy".
ABC.AZ informs that SOCAR Vice President Afghan Isayev made this statement on the second day of the Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025).
According to Isayev, SOCAR has developed a decarbonization program and has already begun work in this direction.
"We have goals for 2030, 2035 and 2050. By 2035, we want to become a national oil and energy company. The company will have balanced hydrocarbon portfolio. And by 2050, as we have already said, we plan to transform into a national oil company with a "zero balance", providing affordable, sustainable and reliable energy on a global scale," he noted.
"The oil and gas segment includes a very wide range of specialties. We have specialists – civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical engineers and so on. In addition, there are workers, craftsmen, lawyers, financiers, accountants. Redirecting them, for example, into a sustainable and low-carbon business is not so difficult. SOCAR has already conducted 300,000 hours of preparatory training," Isayev said.
